Early Valentines

Happy early Valentines! I participated in a Valentines swap and my package arrived today full of loot from Russia thanks to Panuru!

A Totoro! ^u^ plus lots of colorful thread that reminded me of soot sprites, haha.

Plus an upcycled drawstring bag covered in pandas, a heart shaped fabric yo-yo maker with a brooch she made for me (now I have the hankering for making some brooches too) and a cool wooden box that contained some stitch markers. Actual stitch markers, not my usual rubber bands or safety pins. Hooray, I'm so happy with my package! Now my only hope is that my partner gets hers soon and likes it this much!

Stuff into Spice

One of our new years resolutions is to stop buying and stop keeping so much plastic in our house. The first place I want to tackle is our kitchen, and we've already pretty much done the spice rack.. shelf. Okay, there's still those two plastic tubs but we haven't produced any right-sized jars yet.

I might also re-do those labels.. I don't know why I was thinking highlighter orange that day.

The Year of the Blanket

This is my first blanket I started a year and a half ago. After a long hibernation (okay I ran outta yarn) it'll also be my first finished blanket. One of my resolutions is to finish all of my blankets off this year, and I have just a row and a half left to go on this one.

Some Recycled Ornaments

We got some ornaments from my step dad's mom. She's a crafty one and finds a use for everything.

Ornaments from light bulbs!

A picture frame from a CD case

And here's something I made for the holidays...

Marshmallow monster flesh! It's what I get for not paying attention to the instructions. I just didn't think it would go that fabulously wrong. I had to take a pic though, it was like the worst jello ever. Yuck.

Christmas Balls

I made some last minute ornaments for Christmas with some plastic balls, yarn and ribbons.

Close the yarn into the ball and tape up the sides of the balls

Cover the ball with glue and start winding the yarn around it so it stripes green and red

Add a bow and a cord for hanging!

I made them in all different sizes. Wooly Christmas balls!

Got My Swap!

I was finally able to get to the post office today, for some reason they delivered it to a different one in the middle of nowhere. It turned out to be my swap package from our holiday swap! The rules were to spend as little as possible, try to shop 'in your stash' and use recycled materials when possible. My package is from Spookycuddles from North Carolina, a Halloween fanatic like me (which is probably why we were paired up, lol) She packed so much into the box it took me close to an hour to look at everything!

First there is the Halloween stuff, a garland, magnets, candy canes, earrings that came in a candy corn bag with a plastic base. Also two packs of Halloweeny craft bags. We don't actually have more than a couple Halloween decorations so now we do :)

Now Christmas stuff too! Ornaments and two more pairs of earrings, (one is a gingerbread couple, haha) a recipe book and goody bags which will be very useful. I'm giving goody baskets for Christmas and the recipe book has tons of cute tasties in it. There is also two Christmas presents in there for me that I tucked away.

Now even MORE stuff! I got saved foils and all sorts of security envelopes for folding (is it dorky that I find the prints so interesting? There's patterns here we don't get) calendar pics for more folding, and a vintage crochet pattern book. Also a super colorful market bag that will be my new favorite. I have made lots of bags but for some reason I never get to keep any. I also got cloths and a soap bag, trivet and a cute tin of my favorite spice tea! Inside was a super cool surprise- a retractable flower loom! Can't wait to test it out, I don't even think they make these anymore.

After seeing it all out it's a surprise it even fit in the box. Thank you for the great package Spookycuddles!!

Dai-So-Good

We went to Daiso on the weekend! I love it there but we don't get to go often. I found the perfect bag there, it's perfect for tiny projects

It was just 4$. There's a little pocket on the outside.

There's a zippered divider between the two sides, and another pocket. I also got a little zippered pouch for my tiny needles for 2$.

I could have easily bought more bags there. They always have such good stuff!!
